Is milk in your tea helpful in providing calcium?

Nothing is more satisfying than a hot cup of tea along with different snacks. Well being a nutritionist, I came across different people with different lifestyles and one thing that I found common among them is Tea and if you are burger than it is bed tea( lol). A South Asian can live without Fast Food but not without tea. Ok jokes apart but have you ever think what tea can do to your body.😟

Well it is not a mystery now because here I am going to tell you about it. Many people think that if they are having tea(doodh patti) it means they are consuming milk in this way. But let me tell you one thing that tea contains no milk nutrients in it either you take pure milk  or any powdered milk, although powdered milk are just tea whiteners. This is because tea leaves( either in form of leaves or in form of dust i.e. Patti) contains Tannins and when we add tea powder in milk, the tannins in tea absorb calcium of milk and and other nutrients of it and what you consume is just white fluid so called milk( brown colored due to tea powder) without any nutrients in it. So basically it doesn't provide you calcium.

Caffeine present in tea and coffee leaches calcium out of bones and leads to osteoporosis. So a piece of advice from this dietitian is never take tea with meals or just after meals, especially those meals that are rich in calcium and iron. Because you will never know how it is going to effect your bone health.

Yes, they couldn't manage their routine especially their sleep and wake cycle that led them towards laziness and weakness. And for school going children, mothers didn't play their role properly. They totally relay on their children what they want in  breakfast or they want to eat something in school. From having desi loaded breakfast of Paratha, Lassi ( buttermilk) , desi ghee we have shifted ourselves to ready to eat cereals just because of our laziness. We prefer bread and breakfast cereals that are better than ...
